Gift Ideas For People With Chronic Pain

October 26, 2016 by Amanda

Living with chronic pain is without a doubt one of the hardest things many people have to do. Until I suffered from a chronic nerve pain condition I didn’t realize how distracting and horrible it can be to live with chronic pain without relief. Luckily I found medication to offer relief but not everyone is so lucky.

If you know someone living in chronic pain we hope you reach out and give a gift that can offer relief. Whether that means time together as a distraction or one of the gifts listed below, it means a lot to someone in chronic pain to know that others care.

Gift Ideas For People With Chronic Pain

The following gift ideas are meant to be given to someone that is dealing with chronic pain. Some links include affiliate links and we hope this list gives you plenty of ideas!

Heating Pad

There are regular electric options but if you know someone with chronic pain that is sensitive to EMF you can also consider giving a FIR (far infrared) heating pad.

Microwavable Wraps

chronic-pain-gift-idea-heated-neck-wrapSimilar to a heating pad, these microwaveable wraps offer warmth and comfort to those in chronic pain. They are great for wrapping around a neck with painful muscles but can be used with various areas for pain relief.

If you know the gift recipient is sensitive to smells, make sure you give a non-scented wrap as a gift. There are several great unscented microwaveable wrap options available on the market and giving a gift that won’t trigger discomfort is very thoughtful.

Comfortable Slippers

chronic-pain-gift-idea-comfortable-slippersAlmost everyone loves a comfy pair of slippers to wear around the house and those in chronic pain are no exception.

These can come in very handy on those days where the pain is too great to even leave the house.

Other great options that offer more support for those who need it include fur lined shoes like Birkenstocks or Crocs.

Relaxation CDs and Videos

These gifts might seem silly to some but can be helpful tools in managing pain and the depression that comes with suffering from chronic pain.

There are lots of different options for relaxation cds from relaxing music to guided meditations to pain specific relaxation techniques.

Treat Yourself Gift Cards

chronic-pain-gift-idea-spa-gift-cardOften those suffering from a chronic painful condition do not have extra room in their financial budget. Money is spent covering treatments and doctor visits instead of spending money on luxuries and treats.

Giving a gift card for a massage or a hair and nail session can be a fantastic gift. Since it’s often not high on the priority list for chronic pain sufferers any gift card they can use to treat themselves will be much appreciated.

Your Time

As we said in the beginning, sometimes the best gift you can give someone with chronic pain is your time. That might mean spending more time with that person and offering lots of hugs. It might mean acts of service like helping run errands and complete household tasks they can’t handle. It might mean things like preparing meals, babysitting, cleaning, or more. Or it simply might mean sending a card once in a while to let them know they are cared for and being prayed over.

Depending on the specific type of pain you might consider a more tailored gift idea. Below are a few links to our more popular gift guides:

Gift Ideas For People With Carpal Tunnel

December 11, 2015 by Amanda

Carpal tunnel can be the worst! It affects your daily life, especially if you work an office job where you type often. In many cases, like mine, you eventually have to have surgery just to find relief.

Today we are sharing some of our favorite gift ideas for people with carpal tunnel. From wrist braces to relaxation gifts, these gift ideas should help people who suffer from carpal tunnel to feel better and in some cases even relieve carpal tunnel pain.

Gift Ideas for People with Carpal Tunnel

If you’re looking to buy gifts for people with carpal tunnel wrist pain, the following list of gift ideas is sure to help you find the right fit.

Fitted Wrist Bracebest carpal tunnel wrist brace - Mueller Fitted Right Wrist support brace

A good wrist brace is a great gift idea for anyone that suffers from carpal tunnel. Wrist braces can be worn during the day all day or when carpal tunnel pain flares up. These fitted wrist braces are also great because they come with adjustable straps that can be adjusted for the perfect fit per customer while still providing great comfort and wrist support. A good wrist brace will also provide pain relief through the relief of swelling while still allowing movement and keeping the wearer comfortable.

  • Mueller Sports Medicine Reversible Thumb Stabilizer

Night Time Sleeping Wrist Support

This can worsen carpal tunnel symptoms and lead to tingling hands when you wake up. There are many types of carpal tunnel wrist braces make it easier for people to sleep with a more rigid splint that aligns your wrist in a neutral position while sleeping to reduce irritation. These make great gift ideas for carpal tunnel sufferers since they can make slumber much more pleasant.

Heat / Cold Therapy Wrap

Using heat therapy on your hand and wrist where pain occurs due to carpal tunnel can provide strong relief through improved circulation and blood flow in the area.  The increased temperature from the heat wrap soothes the discomfort from pain and helps relax the area. These make great gift ideas for carpal tunnel sufferers since they are both effective at providing relief and also look more stylish than many of the traditional wraps that only come in black or nude.

We recommend:
